Features

Michael Rodgers was a science editor for 35 years, working for several publishers including Oxford University Press, W.H. Freeman, and Longman. He commissioned and edited Richard Dawkins’s The Selfish Gene and The Blind Watchmaker and Peter Atkins’s world-leading Physical Chemistry textbook, now in its 12th edition.
Other notable titles he was responsible for include John Emsley’s The Consumer’s Good Chemical Guide, winner of the Rhône-Poulenc Science Book Prize (1995), James D. Watson’s autobiographical Genes, Girls and Gamow, and Maurice Wilkins’s memoir, The Third Man of the Double Helix.
Now retired, he continues to sing with the Oxford University Press Choir.
