IT IS the year 2035 and our narrator, Steel, is on the run somewhere in Manhattan, chased by an unknown pursuer. Meanwhile, back in 2010, Zeke, a physics student at Imperial College London, is in love with a woman named Kate who has a mysterious connection to Tony, another physics student who killed himself by jumping off Queen’s Tower, leaving behind only vague warnings and a cryptic diary.
