The odds of a global disaster caused by a collision with asteroid 1999 AN10
have shortened from one in 10 million to one in 500 000. The earlier odds
related to a possible collision in 2039
(This Week, 29 May, p 14), but Paul
Chodas of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, says the
latest calculations show that a hit is more likely on 7 August 2046.
