A German manufacturer is claiming that its mobile phones are safer than others because they direct radiation away from the user’s head. Advertisements for the GlobalHandy phone, which is made by Hagenuk of Kiel, highlight its low “specific absorption rates” compared to other types of mobile. But its competitors say this has no bearing on health. “We take strong exception to any suggestion that our phones are unsafe or that other phones are safer,” says Norman Sandler from Motorola.
