Phoebe Coghlan (aged 5) reviews Slugs by David Greenberg (Little, Brown, £8.99, ISBN 0 316 32756 5): People do horrible things to slugs, and slugs do horrible things to people in my book. But I know slugs don’t really come after you in bed and chop you into pancakes. And even though people do horrible things to the slugs in the book, I still think gardeners should kill real ones. But I’m worried the poison kills birds. The book was really fantastic, but most of all I like the free cuddly slug you get with it. “Snuggles” is furry, has antennae and goes everywhere with me, even to bed. Goodnight.
