William Burroughs knows his atmospheric physics and his hills. He combines his knowledge in Mountain Weather: A Guide for Skiers and Hillwalkers (Crowood Press, Marlborough, Wiltshire, £10.99 pbk, ISBN 85223 877 1). Nice diagrams throughout showing, for example, how winds scour slopes, gain energy and dump snow.
