Cellphone twinklers, which are a craze in Japan and on sale worldwide in
markets and on the Internet, are being banned in Britain. These LED-based add-on
antennas twinkle when you take a call, but Britain鈥檚 Radiocommunications Agency
says the LEDs make the aerial re-radiate at slightly different frequencies.
These spurious signals introduce digital errors into the signals received by
other cellphones in the area, making their sound break up. 鈥淎nyone using a
twinkler is committing an offence,鈥 says the RA. 鈥淎nyone selling them is
inciting the public to commit offences. We shall not hesitate to take
