Your mobile phone could soon be your very own personal Web server. Microsoft
Research Labs in Cambridge has developed a SIM card that works like a
mini-server, sending out text for Web pages over the Internet, using the short
message service (SMS) text gateway. Besides enabling you to carry the
information from your own Web page around with you, says Kai Rannenberg of
Microsoft, the CamWebSim could allow you to make secure Internet payments using
the encryption system built into GSM phones.
