If you’ve ever spent your entire holiday worrying that your neighbour isn’t
feeding Tibbles, then a company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, may have come up
with something to put your mind at rest—your very own robot spy. Cye,
originally developed by Probotics as a vacuum cleaning robot, now has a video
camera so that you can keep an eye on your home—or Tibbles—from any
Internet cafe. A 900-megahertz radio link connects the two-wheeled droid’s
webcam via your PC to a Web server. Log on, and you can drive the robot around
your home.
