If you’ve dreamt of seeing the ocean depths but are too frightened to dive,

the real thing. He describes the landscape of the deep: metre-long worms waving
around hot volcanic vents in the ocean floor, and wing-footed snails that weave
mucus webs. Kunzig’s aim is to show how oceanographers made these discoveries
