The US Supreme Court has upheld a decision forbidding Louisiana from making
state schoolteachers read 鈥渁 disclaimer from endorsement of such theory鈥� before
giving lessons on evolution. The disclaimer said lessons were 鈥渢o inform
students of the scientific concept and not intended to influence or dissuade
[sic] the Biblical version of Creation鈥�. In 1997, a lower court ruled that this
violated the constitutional separation of church and state
