Shirley Berrows of the West Midlands is patenting a simple, but elegant, idea
for helping people with arthritis turn the pages of a book (GB 2 327 665). Each
page will have a magnetic tag, at the bottom right-hand corner. The reader will
wear a magnetic thimble, and be able to pull the page up and over without the
need to grip it. The magnetic tag can be embedded in the paper at the time of
printing, like the security strip in a banknote, or adhesive tags can be sold in
packs for someone with nimbler fingers to stick on each page of an ordinary
book.
