Netropolitan is feeling philosophical this week—and why not? The
roots of science lie in philosophy, and the word itself has its roots in the
Greek philosophos, meaning lover of wisdom. Happily, the Web provides
plenty of scope for exploring the nature of scientific inquiry. The recent
battle over whether the study of science itself can be scientifically studied
