A big book on a big subject is Cosmology: The Origin and Evolution of Cosmic Structure by Peter Coles and Francesco Lucchin (John Wiley, £24.95, ISBN 0 47 195473 X). It focuses on the origin and evolution of cosmic structure while touching on many other areas. It jumps off from, but goes far beyond, the material in Lucchin’s Italian textbook Introduzione alla Cosmologia. Pitched at beginning postgraduate level, but comprehensive enough to be useful to researchers at all levels.
